A former school – complete with original classrooms and assembly hall – could be yours for $1.6 million.

Redland Hill House in Bristol was built in 1761 and was used as a school for many years.

The rare property, which is a Grade II Listed Mansion House, will be going up for auction next week – with a guide price of $1.6 million to $1.75 million.

The giant building – listed as having 10 bedrooms, five bathrooms and five living areas- will be auctioned by Hollis Morgan.

It features the original reception area, assembly hall, and several classrooms which once educated thousands of young students over many years.

The buyer will even own a piece of history as the south-west wing of the house was destroyed during the Second World War – evidenced by original photographs.

The mansion has four floors with a large side extension – plus basements and various outbuildings.

The listing states that the property “has potential to create one of the largest private family homes in the city with gardens and parking in this most sought after of locations.”

The development property will be going up for online auction on March 11.

Olly Hollis, director, auctioneer and valuer, said: “Redland Hill House already feels like a highlight of the year and its only January!

“This prime property is located just moments from Whiteladies Road and The Downs in this incredibly sought after corner of Bristol.

“It will appeal to a wide range of potential bidders and we anticipate family buyers and developers alike to inquire and it will be fascinating to see what happens on this exciting lot.”
