The American Red Cross’ Turkey Trot 2025: the what, when, where and why

KENNEWICK, Wash. – The American Red Cross is preparing for its annual Turkey Trot at Columbia Park Trail. The event invites casual runners, superstar sprinters and avid spectators to participate and support a good cause.

It’s become a bona fide Thanksgiving tradition in the Tri-Cities, with thousands of runners and onlookers ready to kick their Thanksgiving into high gear for a good cause.

Last year’s contributions exceeded a record-breaking $90,000, and this year’s Trot might even exceed that number.

“Most people know the Red Cross for blood or for disasters that they think happen somewhere else. But the fact is: most of the disasters we respond to are home fires,” said Michele Roth, Executive Director for the Tri-Cities’ chapter of the American Red Cross.

“So locally… that’s one of the things that we do every day, every year, every hour of the day or night… is respond to those home fires for people who need us.”

“Proceeds for this help us respond with financial assistance. It also helps us on the preparedness side with putting in free smoke alarms,” continued Roth.

The community is encouraged to participate in the Turkey Trot, supporting a cause that directly impacts local residents.

For more information on the Trot, its schedule and the road closures, you can find more information on the Red Cross’ Turkey Trot website.
