
KENNEWICK, Wash. – Police in Kennewick are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager at the Heatherstone Apartments. This incident, believed to be a targeted gang-related attack, took place just across from a middle school. However, authorities assure there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Officers responded to the 1100 block of West 10th Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. last night. They found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot. Despite efforts to save him, the teenager died at the scene.
Detectives are working to determine the number of suspects involved. Currently, they believe there may be around four.
The Heatherstone Apartments have a history of violent crime. In the past four years, multiple shootings and even a SWAT standoff have occurred. Police emphasize that this incident appears to be closed and targeted, not random.
Investigators are actively following leads and will release new information when it’s safe. The apartment complex management has been contacted for comment, but no response has been received yet.
