Teen in Washington faces charges for extortion and threats

WASHINGTON – An 18-year-old, Yonathan Abadillo-Solano, has been arrested and charged with first-degree extortion and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Police reported that Abadillo-Solano demanded sexually explicit photos and videos from a minor and threatened to kill the minor and their family if the demands were not met.

Abadillo-Solano appeared in court today. During the proceedings, a timeline for the trial was established.

Abadillo-Solano will have an omnibus hearing on New Year’s Eve, followed by a pre-trial on January 15. The trial is scheduled to begin on February 2.

According to Washington state law, if Abadillo-Solano receives the maximum penalty, he could face up to 10 years in jail.
