
KENNEWICK, Wash. – A 17-year-old from Pasco is in custody after allegedly robbing a coffee shop with a gun in Kennewick on Tuesday.
Kennewick Police say at around 5:30 a.m. at the Wake Up Call coffee shop on South Carmichael Street, the teen allegedly got inside the shop through the window, pulled out a gun and began stealing money from the till.
An employee at the shop then pointed their own legally owned gun and ended up firing it in the suspect’s direction, not hitting him. The employee then fled the building and the suspect fled in a stolen car from Richland.
Detectives quickly worked to identify the suspect, a 17-year-old teen from Pasco, who was found by Pasco Police during a traffic stop later in the day. The stolen car was found ditched in east Kennewick as well.
The teen was booked into the Benton Franklin Juvenile Justice Center on robbery, assault, burglary and unlawful firearm possession charges.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
