NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles in TV shows like “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday.
Sweeney, originally from Spokane, joined the American Eagle CEO for the event.
Her appearance follows her involvement in a jeans advertisement for the clothing company last year, which attracted some criticism.
The ad’s tagline, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” was perceived by some as having a connection to eugenics, although it was intended as a pun on genetics.
American Eagle denied any link to eugenics.
