RICHLAND, Wash. – Residents in Richland may have noticed an increased police presence this week as law enforcement officers are gathering for educational purposes on public safety.
Richland, West Richland, Pasco and Kennewick police, along with Benton and Franklin County sheriff’s deputies, have come together for the SWAT PUP training.
This event runs officers and deputies through intense scenarios, such as hostage rescues.
Officer Cynthia Nunez highlighted the importance of this collaboration.
“I believe it established that connection, some sort of basic foundation for everybody,” she said. “There’s certain scenarios, unfortunately, where we might need help from the neighboring agency and they at least have that same foundation that we do so that we’re able to move, accordingly together.”
Friday marks the last day of training at CBC’s Richland campus. If you are in the area from 8:00 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m., expect to hear loud noises and see an increased police presence.
