Suspect caught in relation to Yakima party homicide, sheriff seeks more information

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima County Sheriff’s Office responded to a homicide on April 20, 2025, involving an 18-year-old victim who died from injuries sustained at a party in the 1500 Block of S. Keys Road.

Detectives identified 21-year-old Isreal Barriga Vargas as the suspect. On April 21, 2025, the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender’s Task Force located Vargas at a residence in the 900 Block of S. 90th Ave.

Vargas surrendered to authorities without incident and was booked into Yakima County Jail on charges of second-degree murder.

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima County law enforcement are searching for a 21-year-old homicide suspect who is considered armed and dangerous after allegedly shooting a man at a party in Yakima.

A press release from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office says early Sunday morning, an 18-year-old was shot at a party located in the 1500 block of South Keys Road.

After detectives arrived, the suspect was identified as 21-year-old Isreal Barriga Vargas of Yakima. He had fled from the party in a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer with WA plate CRH8859 and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled and the investigation is being treated as a homicide.

Barriga Vargas is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to contact YCSO at 574-2500 or 800-572-0490, or put in an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Yakima County at 800-248-9980.
