FINLEY, Wash. – Benton County sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault report in the Finley area Monday afternoon, February 3, leading to the arrest of a suspect on multiple charges.

After interviewing the victim, deputies said they determined there was probable cause for charges of assault in the second degree and felony harassment.

Despite numerous loudspeaker announcements, the suspect remained locked inside the residence, the release said.

A Benton County Judge granted a search warrant, allowing deputies to proceed. They waited for the property owner to arrive with a key, but found the door chained shut from the inside. After cutting the lock, deputies said they discovered the suspect asleep in a bedroom.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
