Supreme Court rules against Texas woman in USPS mail delivery case

The Supreme Court has ruled against a Texas woman, Lebene Konan, who attempted to sue the United States Postal Service (USPS) for allegedly withholding her mail due to racial motivations.

Konan, a real estate agent and landlord, claimed that the USPS had intentionally declined to deliver her mail as part of a racially motivated harassment campaign.

The justices dismissed the case, citing federal law that exempts USPS from lawsuits. This decision overturned a previous appellate court ruling which stated that the exemption only applied to lost mail, not to cases of intentional refusal to deliver.

A lower court will now examine whether the postal service’s actions were justified.
