Several traffic safety improvement projects set to begin in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash.- The City of Richland’s Systemic stop-controlled Intersection Safety Improvement Projects start Mar. 10.

This project will include several advanced safety measures according to the City of Richland including, the installation of an advanced warning system three mini roundabouts updated signage and new pavement markings.

The first of the three phases will involve construction of a mini roundabout at the intersection of Thayer Drive and Williams Boulevard. The intersection will be closed with a detour for drivers during construction. The closure will be in effect from March to the end of April.

Other improvements include a mini roundabout at Stevens Drive and Symons Street construction planned for the end of April through early June.

Another mini roundabout at Swift Boulevard and Wright Avenue construction planned from early June to mid August.

Curb extensions new signage pavement markings and traffic control measures at Goethals Drive and Torbett Street, Wright avenue and Lee Boulevard.

And an advanced Warning System will be installed at Kennedy Road and Duportail Street which will alert drivers to stopped vehicles at the intersection who are turning left. Reducing accidents and congestion.
