
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Sen. Nikki Torres, R-Pasco, has announced a number of projects approved for funding during the 2025 Legislative Session is a significant win for the 15th Legislative District.
In a release, Senator Torres said she secured more than $136 million in funding through the 2025-27 Washington state capital budget to bolster infrastructure, community projects, and public services.
“Our communities deserve modern infrastructure, thriving local businesses and safe schools,” Sen. Torres said. “These investments lay the foundation for future growth and ensure our district remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
Key infrastructure investments include $11.1 million for the City of Selah Wastewater Treatment Plant, $13 million for Yakima Tieton Irrigation Canal improvements, and $3.25 million for the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District.
In education and youth programs, Sen. Torres said the budget allocates $1.1 million for the Prosser School District’s ECEAP Expansion and $611,000 for Yakima Central Library improvements. Additionally, $12 million is set aside for school security grants, a proposal under Torres’ Senate Bill 5003.
Emergency preparedness and public safety also received attention, with $295,000 for emergency power generators at Yakima County Fire District 12 and $450,000 for Benton REA’s Wildfire Resilience Project.
