RICHLAND, Wash. – Richland Police Department (RPD) officers responded to a threat made by a Richland High School student on Thursday, February 13, 2025, regarding potential violence at the school the following day, said an RPD release.
RPD said officers worked with School Resource Officers (SROs) in contacting and interviewing the student, parents, and all possible witnesses and learning the student had been suspended earlier that day for an unrelated issue.
The investigation revealed no access to firearms at the student’s home, and the family cooperated fully with the Richland Police Department, RPD added.
The department emphasized their commitment to safety, stating, “RPD takes every school threat seriously. Our officers remain vigilant in protecting our schools and community.”
