RICHLAND, Wash. – A Richland man was sentenced to seven years in prison and three years of community custody following a Southeast Regional Internet Crimes Against Children (SER-ICAC) Task Force investigation.
The investigation began in February 2024 when the task force, acting on a social media tip, executed a search warrant at Ryan Later’s home, discovering evidence of child sexual abuse material, Richland Police said in a release.
Additionally, detectives said they identified and rescued two child victims in Oklahoma, with the suspected abuser arrested.
Benton County Prosecutor Taylor Anderson praised Lead Detective Matt Nelson’s efforts, stating, “Your continued efforts to identify and assist with bringing the Oklahoma offender to justice demonstrate your commitment to the mission and goal of the ICAC task force.”
The SER-ICAC, comprising the Richland Police Department, Kennewick Police Department, Benton County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security, works with national partners to combat child exploitation.
