Richland library to open “The Lawn” with events for the community

RICHLAND, Wash. – The Richland Public Library is excited to invite the community to the grand opening of “The Lawn,” a new outdoor space designed for events, play, study and connection.

The opening will be held on Saturday, March 7, starting with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. at the library located at 955 Northgate Drive. Following the ceremony, the library will host a day of free, family-friendly activities.

Library Manager Chris Nulph shared the significance of the new space, saying, “The Lawn creates new opportunities for the Richland Public Library to bring people together in meaningful ways.”

At 10:15 a.m., families can enjoy Story Time on “The Lawn,” offering a special outdoor storytelling experience. Later, at 1:00 p.m., the community can participate in Holi: Festival of Colors, celebrating the arrival of spring with joy and unity.

“The space allows us to offer programs that encourage learning, creativity, and community connection in an open, accessible outdoor setting,” Nulph said. “In addition to hosting events, it provides a place for families to play, students to study, and community members to gather.”

All events are free and open to the public without registration.
