RICHLAND, Wash. – Right along Columbia Park Trail, a house bursts with Halloween spirit, transformed into a pirate-themed spectacle.

NonStop Local visited the home of Cynthia Holmes and Dante Hamilton, who are behind the transformation.

Hamilton, a carpenter for decades, has put his skills to work, constructing ships, castles, and more as part of their massive Halloween display.

Holmes handles a lot of the curation, stating that not all pre-made Halloween decorations are made equal, and helps construct some of the scenes around the property.

Hamilton explained the process, saying, “I have a love of ships since I was a little kid, and it was really an opportunity for me to actually make one.”

He added that the ship is designed to be disassembled and stored for future use. “The ship was a fun project last year I added a little bit to it this year,” he said.

Holmes shared her perspective on the artistic process involved in their yearly decoration efforts. “As much as I can put into it, as interesting as I can make it, as fun for the families to see, that’s what we go for,” she said.

Holmes and Hamilton have made the display a yearly tradition, and folks interested in seeing it in all its glory, the address is 131 Columbia Park Trail.
