RICHLAND, Wash. – Richland firefighters made quick work of a house fire during the afternoon hours of Monday, March 31.
Battalion Chief Joe DeRousie of the Richland Fire Department (RFD) said flames were visible from the front bedroom window when crews arrived at the home in the 1800 block of Williams Blvd.
The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. A family of five had evacuated the home before the fire crew’s arrival, and no injuries were reported, DeRousie said.
The fire was contained to the bedroom where it started, but Derousie said the home sustained smoke and fire damage, rendering it uninhabitable for the time being.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by RFD, with no indication of anything suspicious at this time, Derousie added.
