RICHLAND, Wash. – The Richland City Council has authorized a significant extension to its agreement with American Cruise Lines, Inc. (ACL).
The original agreement, established on December 15, 2020, allowed for interim moorage at the Lee Boulevard Dock at Howard Amon Park. American Cruise Lines is now investing in improvements to the dock, prompting a revision to the agreement’s terms, said a resolution approved by the city council May 6.
The amendment extends the agreement from two additional terms of five years each to four additional terms of five years each. This allows American Cruise Lines the option to extend their use of the dock for up to 20 more years, contingent on updated insurance requirements and a rent escalator.
The City of Richland is set to benefit from the improvements and could receive up to $973,004 in revenue from these extensions.
Meanwhile, ACL is set to expand its operations on the Columbia and Snake Rivers with the addition of a fifth vessel this year, according to the resolution.
In addition to the expansion of their fleet, ACL has shown interest in constructing a future commercial dock near property known as Tract D in Columbia Point, the resolution added.
