RICHLAND, Wash. – The Department of Energy (DOE) is considering Richland as a potential site for one of its artificial intelligence data centers across the country, according to a request for information (RFI) document.
Richland’s proposed site spans 295 acres of former Hanford Site land, which was transferred to the DOE.
It is one of 16 locations currently under consideration.
The presence of skilled scientists at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory makes Richland a strong candidate for the AI data center, said the document.
