Retired Walla Walla Police Chief Chuck Fulton leaves lasting legacy

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla community is mourning the loss of Retired Police Chief Chuck Fulton, who passed away after a distinguished 42-year career with the Walla Walla Police Department (WWPD).

According to WWPD, Chief Fulton began his service on September 26, 1969, and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police on August 5, 1983. He held this position until his retirement on March 31, 2012.

Chief Fulton was praised for shaping the department with a focus on service, pride, integrity and teamwork. He was known for integrating social programs into policing, a practice that has become a model for modern law enforcement.

His leadership brought initiatives like the Domestic Violence Advocacy Program, which continues to support victims in the community. Many current tools and facilities, including the Chuck Fulton Community Room, reflect his dedication.

After retirement, Chief Fulton and his wife Jeanie remained active in community events, supporting the department’s mission. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide the community.

The department asks the community to keep the Fulton family in their thoughts during this difficult time. Chief Fulton’s impact on Walla Walla will always be remembered.
