Rescuers save disabled man from drowning in canal in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. – A developmentally disabled man is expected to make a full recovery after nearly drowning in the Roza Canal in Yakima County on Monday.

YCSO says deputies were sent to the Selah area for a welfare check. The 24-year-old disabled man had reportedly left his home and entered the nearby Roza Canal.

Emergency personnel responded and found him floating down the canal. After 15 minutes, rescuers pulled the man out and gave him immediate medical attention.

The 24-year-old was brought to a nearby hospital and is expected to fully recover.
