WASHINGTON D.C. – President Donald Trump, in a December 2 cabinet meeting, said the government might eventually get rid of the federal income tax and use tariffs to replace its revenue.
Trump raised the idea while discussing possible government tax refunds to the public.
Trump previously suggested either eliminating or nearly eliminating federal income tax during a speech at his Mar-A-Lago mansion during Thanksgiving in 2025.
