PASCO, Wash. – The city of Pasco has introduced three new full-sized soccer fields on ‘A Street,’ responding to a growing demand for the sport in the Tri-Cities area. “Soccer is a big sport in Tri-Cities,” a local community member said.
The city recognized the demand and took action with the recent grand opening of the A Street Sports Complex. The new complex is situated in an area where soccer is deeply embedded in the culture. “With the Hispanic culture right in Pasco, there’s a big part of the population. It’s a big part of the culture of not only Pasco but all the Tri-Cities,” said Hector Cruz, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Visit Tri-Cities.
With the World Cup coming to the U.S. next year, the timing for the new fields couldn’t be better. “We will have the World Cup not too far from us, in Seattle. We’re just over three hours away from Seattle,” Cruz stated.
Pasco is exploring ways to leverage the World Cup excitement locally. Looking ahead, Cruz mentioned plans to further expand soccer field options in the area. This expansion aims to provide more space for youth practices and games in the Tri-Cities.
