OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Senate has unanimously approved a memorial to honor Trooper Charles Frank Noble Jr.

Led by Sen. Nikki Torres (R-Pasco), the initiative requests the designation of an overpass on I-82 at the Yakima Valley Highway junction as the “Washington State Patrol Trooper Charles Frank Noble Jr. Memorial Overpass.”

Trooper Noble, a Yakima County resident since 1969, began his career with the Washington State Patrol in 1957. He was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Zillah in 1972.

“Trooper Charles Frank Noble Jr. exemplified the highest standards of bravery and dedication in his service to our community and country,” Torres said

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste also supported the memorial, emphasizing Noble’s service and sacrifice.

The proposal now moves to the Washington state House of Representatives for consideration.
