PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco City Council is set to discuss a resolution that could reshape library services in the city.
The resolution proposes terminating the current agreement with Mid-Columbia Libraries.
The City of Pasco and Mid-Columbia Libraries (MCL) have a longstanding agreement to provide library services, which is set to last until 2032.
However, both parties are exploring alternatives, including the option of annexation into the MCL district, according to the city council’s agenda report.
The current contract is funded through Pasco’s General Fund, with $2.53 million budgeted for 2025 and $2.78 million for 2026.
Terminating the agreement would require an 18-month notice, allowing sufficient time for both parties to explore new service models and funding structures, the report said.
The council will review the resolution during its meeting on August 18.
