PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco City Council will select a new mayor and mayor pro-tem during its regular Monday meeting on August 18 to fill the vacancy left by Pete Serrano who’s now serving as Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.

The new mayor, a largely ceremonial position, will serve until December 31, 2025 before the council completes another appointment process in January 2026 for the new term running until December 31, 2028.

Applications for the council position left vacant by Serrano will be available on the City of Pasco’s website. The city encourages registered voters in District 4 to apply for the vacancy.

The council has 90 days to appoint the new member to the seat.
