Pasco City Council seeks annexation to join Mid-Columbia Libraries

PASCO, Wash. – In a move aimed at alleviating financial strain, the Pasco City Council unanimously voted to join the Mid-Columbia Libraries District during their meeting on Monday, October 20.

This annexation would transition library funding from the city’s general fund to a dedicated property tax levy. The proposed tax is 23 cents per every $1,000 of assessed value.

The goal of this change is to reduce pressure on the city’s general fund. If the libraries’ board of trustees agrees with the city’s declaration, the proposal would advance to the Franklin County Commissioners.

The commissioners would then need to pass a resolution to place the measure on the ballot for a special election.
