The Pasco City Council is now accepting applications from residents of District 4 to fill the council seat left vacant by former Mayor and Councilmember Pete Serrano, who vacated the seat to serve as Interim U.S Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.
The appointed councilmember will serve until December 31, 2025.
Eligible candidates must be registered voters living in Pasco’s District 4. Applications are open from August 19 through September 2, 2025, and can be submitted online at the Pasco City Council’s website.
The council will review applications on September 8. Selected candidates will be interviewed at the regular meeting on September 15 before a vote to appoint a new councilmember. Once selected, the new member will assume office immediately.
In addition to the District 4 vacancy, the council has appointed District 5 Mayor Pro-Tem and Councilmember David Milne as the new mayor. District 3 Councilmember Charles Grimm has been appointed as Mayor Pro-Tem, both serving through the end of 2025.
PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco City Council will select a new mayor and mayor pro-tem during its regular Monday meeting on August 18 to fill the vacancy left by Pete Serrano who’s now serving as Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.
The new mayor, a largely ceremonial position, will serve until December 31, 2025 before the council completes another appointment process in January 2026 for the new term running until December 31, 2028.
Applications for the council position left vacant by Serrano will be available on the City of Pasco’s website. The city encourages registered voters in District 4 to apply for the vacancy.
The council has 90 days to appoint the new member to the seat.
