PASCO, Wash. – Over $650,000 in community development block grant funding has been announced by the city to support nonprofits in Pasco. This funding aims to improve the quality of life for residents by targeting community resources needing enhancement or support.
Peanuts Park, a recent beneficiary of this funding, has been revitalized under the program, showcasing the potential impact of these grants. The city expects this year’s allocation to be $650,000.
“These grants are used to help low-income people. To eliminate any slum or blight conditions within the city or to create jobs for low-income individuals. So it’s really something that we’re hoping to use to strengthen the community.” said City of Pasco Communication and Outreach Coordinator, Alyssa Warner.
Nonprofits interested in applying for a grant can find more information on the City of Pasco’s website. The application process, while lengthy, is considered worthwhile by city officials.
The application window closes at the end of this month. Two public hearings are scheduled for late June and mid-July, offering community members the opportunity to share their input on the allocation of funds.
