BUTTE, Mont. – NorthWestern Energy has alerted the community about scammers targeting residents with false claims of energy service disconnection unless immediate payments are made.
NorthWestern Energy said these threats are fraudulent, and that energy providers do not demand instant payments or threaten sudden service termination.
NorthWestern Energy noted that customers with past-due accounts receive multiple notices ahead of any disconnection. The company urges residents to stay vigilant and not share personal or financial information with callers demanding immediate payment.
