New Year’s Eve fireworks rules in Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, Yakima

TRI-CITIES, YAKIMA, Wash. – As New Year’s Eve approaches, residents in Kennewick, Pasco, Richland and Yakima have specific guidelines to follow regarding fireworks.

In Kennewick, city officials are ensuring that all fireworks available for purchase are legal. However, aerial fireworks are prohibited alongside other types. Those who prefer a professional display can enjoy the show outside the Carousel of Dreams until 9:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

Pasco residents are advised to buy fireworks only from licensed dealers. It is important not to transport these fireworks across city or county lines. The city emphasizes considering neighbors, pets and first responders during celebrations.

Richland allows the use of fireworks from 6:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. Legal fireworks can be purchased within the city, but setting off illegal ones may result in a $250 fine.

In Yakima and most of the surrounding county, all fireworks are illegal. Violating this law could lead to a $1,000 fine and up to 90 days in jail.
