RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of Richland is expected to move forward with the Thayer Drive Streetlight Replacement Project between Kuhn Street and Sunset Street.
The 1.5 mile stretch of road is currently lined with streetlights from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
The BPA plans to remove these poles and wires in fall 2025 as part of its South of Tri-Cities Reinforcement Project, the resolution report said.
In response, the city will install new streetlights and expand the city’s fiber network, taking advantage of favorable contractor pricing, according to the resolution.
During the city council’s upcoming meeting May 20, the council is expected to approve a construction contract with Allstar Construction Group for $1,148,529.16 to install 43 lights and relocate street signs among other modifications.
