Motorcycle crash in Yakima leaves Moxee rider injured, investigation ongoing

Yakima Police shared on update Thursday night om the crash.

The motorcycle rider, a 57-year-old resident of Moxee, sustained a severe leg injury and was taken to Multi-Care Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Harborview Medical Center for advanced care.

The vehicle, a 2002 Subaru Legacy station wagon, was driven by a 70-year-old man from Union Gap. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Police found no signs of impairment.

The investigation indicated that the Subaru was traveling east on W Chestnut Ave, where stop signs control traffic.

The Subaru’s front bumper hit the left side of the motorcycle as it traveled north on S 4th Ave, ejecting the rider.

Speed was not deemed a factor in the incident.

YAKIMA, Wash. – A motorcyclist suffered a severe leg injury after a crash at South 4th Avenue and West Chestnut. The road will be temporarily closed for investigation according to the Yakima Police Department.

The City of Yakima Fire Department reported that they had members at the scene of the accident at 1:02 p.m. on October 2. The crash involved a motorcycle and a car.

The Yakima Police Department said that the road would be closed for investigation around 2:30 p.m.
