Mini bike rider injured in crash after failing to stop for officer in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. – A mini bike rider was sent to the hospital after being thrown from their bike during a traffic stop in Kennewick, according to Kennewick Police.

KPD says at around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, two mini bikes were riding in the middle of West Clearwater Avenue near North Neel Street. An officer attempted a traffic stop, however the riders allegedly failed to stop and one hit a curb, throwing them from their bike.

The rider was brought to a nearby hospital with injuries. Both riders were not wearing helmets.

KPD reminds the public that mini bikes and pit type bikes are not permitted to be brought onto public roadways or sidewalks.
