RICHLAND, Wash. – Indivisible Tri-Cities organized a ‘May Day‘ protest at John Dam Plaza, joining a nationwide day of mobilization. Protests across the country rallied for workers’ rights, democracy, and justice.

Loren Malone, the founder of Indivisible Tri-Cities, emphasized recent impacts on the working class.

“The loss to the workforce has really affected our communities,” Malone said. “I mean, there are scientists, people that work in the fields, and there’s a lot of job loss that’s happened around here.”

The group aimed to unite communities across the country to demand fairness and change. Many protesters expressed the importance of voicing their opinions and fighting for democracy and freedom.

“Most importantly, I’m here because of the threats to things I have on this sign, which include science, education, the environment, clean air, clean water, and our health. All of those are at risk right now,” protester Craig Mills said.

Malone highlighted the significance of community participation in the conversation and expressed pride in the May Day turnout.

“I think every time I’m surprised and not surprised, I’m always happy to have anybody one, two people, 500, 2000. I think everybody and anybody that wants to speak out is critical to this whole operation,” Malone said.
