YAKIMA, Wash. – A Mexican man was sentenced in Yakima to over 12 and a half years in prison on methamphetamine distribution charges, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

Santiago Rojas-Rangel, 51, will spend 151 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for selling meth in and around Yakima, with the Drug Enforcement Administration having conducted several controlled purchases between February and May 2024.

This is Rojas-Rangel’s second meth-related sentence. He previously spent 44 months in prison after being convicted in Dec. 2019 and has been previously deported from the U.S. before illegally re-entering to continue trafficking drugs.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of dangerous repeat drug offenders,” said U.S. Attorney Richard Barker. “Mr. Rojas-Rangel entered the United States illegally and then distributed large quantities of methamphetamine into the Yakima community. I am grateful for the dedication of our federal, state, and local partners and for the incredible team of prosecutors, who dedicate their careers to keeping our communities safe.”
