PASCO, Wash. – A man accused of assault on officers has been formally charged in Franklin County Court.

Brandon Creel, 40, was arraigned August 19 on charges of assault in the third degree, malicious harassment, felony threats, obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

In a recent probable cause court document, Franklin County authorities detailed the arrest of Creel, following a crash near US 395, where a single-vehicle rollover was reported.

Witnesses told police that Creel was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. After the crash, he attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by the Connell Fire Chief, the document said.

Upon arrival, officers said Creel appeared intoxicated and admitted to consuming a pint of vodka.

The document also revealed that Creel resisted arrest, became aggressive and threatened officers, stating, “I’m going to kill you,” and used racial slurs against one of the officers. Creel’s actions included attempting to spit on officers and kicking one officer, the document said.

Once at Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco, investigators said Creel continued to be uncooperative, removing an IV, throwing it at a state patrol trooper while shouting more racial slurs.

Due to his behavior, medical staff decided to chemically restrain him for further examination, according to the document.

The legal proceedings remain ongoing as the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office pursues the case.
