
OLYMPIA, Wash. – 70 building owners, including some in the Tri-Cities, Yakima and Walla Walla, received a cut of $55.5 million in funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce through its Clean Buildings Performance Grant.
The funds will be used to make energy-efficient upgrades to comply with the state’s Clean Buildings Performance Standard.
Upgrades include making lights more efficient LEDs, modernizing heating and cooling systems, implementing smart building controls and developing compliance documentation like energy benchmarking reports.
Awards for local schools and businesses include:
$2 million for the Pasco School District to make energy efficient-upgrades to its HVAC system, in addition to other assessments across the district’s buildings.$2 million to Megalodon Properties in Yakima for energy-efficient upgrades to the 11-story Larsen Building.Nearly $400,000 for the East Valley School District.Nearly $300,000 for the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.Over $250,000 for Valley Mall LLC.Over $1.2 million for Walla Walla Public Schools.Walla Walla University for lighting and envelope upgrades and compliance reporting.Over $15,000 for Second Harvest.
