NACHES, Wash. – A level 2 “prepare” evacuation notice has been issued in Naches due to flood risk, according to Yakima Valley Emergency Management.
YVEM said that the Naches river water level is rising “rapidly” as the region experiences heavy rainfall and mountain snow runoff this week.
Elk Valley Lane has been flooded, as well as the Nile Road bridge crossing at Little Rattlesnake Creek which is currently “impassable” and “suffered severe damage,” YVEM said.
YVEM also issued safety reminders, warning “if the roads are flooded, turn around, don’t drown” and instructing those in the area to keep their distance from rushing waters and rivers.
