WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – A large fallen tree blocked Red Mountain Road near Ridge Crest Drive in unincorporated West Richland this evening.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to the scene, where neighbors were already pitching in to clean up tree limbs and remove debris from the roadway.
Benton County Fire District #4 also arrived to assist. They were able to cut the tree into smaller, removable portions.
More neighbors joined in to help move the cut-up tree and sweep small debris from the roadway.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office thanked the fire district and the neighbors who helped clear the roadway.
The road is now open, but drivers are advised to proceed cautiously due to high wind gusts in the area.
