The man accused of fatally shooting King of the Hill and Parks and Recreation actor Jonathan Joss has been indicted by a grand jury on one count of murder.

According to Bexar County, Texas, court records, obtained by People, 57-year-old Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, a neighbor of Joss, was indicted on Monday (November 17). The indictment comes after Alvarez was arrested in June on a first-degree murder charge for shooting Joss.

Joss’ husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, told police he witnessed the shooting, identifying Alvarez as the killer and claiming it came after “years of threats” and homophobic attacks on Joss.

“My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home,” de Gonzales wrote in a Facebook post on June 2. “That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times, and nothing was done.”

He added, “[Joss] was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family.”

Joss was best known for voicing John Redcorn in the popular animated series King of the Hill, appearing in all 13 original series. He also voiced the character in four episodes of the recent revival.

Two days before his death, Joss appeared at the ATX TV Festival, where it was confirmed he would return for the King of the Hill reboot. During the panel, he said, per People, “I’m an actor. I see a mic, I use it. I see a wrong, I make it right… My house burned down three months ago because I’m gay.”

Joss’ other television credits included roles in Ray Donovan, Friday Night Lights, Tulsa King, ER, Charmed, Walker, Texas Ranger, In Plain Sight, and The League.
