Kennewick’s United Way receives grant to mentor underserved students

Kennewick, WA – United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties has received a $9,000 grant from the Jack in the Box Foundation to support its Attendance Matters Mentoring Program to improve school attendance and enhance student success.

The grant will help United Way provide mentorship opportunities to local students, focusing on those who have been historically underserved, according to a release by United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties.

Currently, the program mentors over 350 students across nine local middle schools.

“United Way is grateful for the Jack in the Box Foundation’s support in our mission to enhance student success and encourage a positive path towards graduation through our Attendance Matters mentorship program for at-risk students,” Dr. LoAnn Ayers, CEO & President of United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties, said.

The Jack in the Box Foundation, established in 1998, supports nonprofit organizations that empower youth and families. United Way, active since 1958, continues to support the health, safety, and success of local kids and families.
