KENNEWICK, Wash. – The city of Kennewick has opened its first fully fenced and inclusive playground at Lawrence Scott Park, fulfilling a commitment to “Kason’s Kause”, the city announced.
The playground includes new features such as grass, art and a surrounding fence. This ensures children can play safely without the risk of wandering off.
“There’s no playground within our system here within the Tri-Cities that’s fenced in.” Nick Farline, Kennewick’s Parks, Recreation and Facilities Director said. “Fully accessible, meaning that individuals with any type of mobility issues can access the playground.”
The initiative is part of “Kason’s Kause,” led by 10-year-old Kason Creed, who advocates for ADA parks. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Kason discovered his love for swings at Providence Park in Spokane, which inspired his advocacy.
Kason continues to advocate for more accessible parks in the Tri-Cities.
