KENNEWICK, Wash. – A groundbreaking ceremony for the new AC Hotels Marriott project is set to take place May 20.
The 162-room convention hotel, which will connect directly to the expanded Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, is expected to boost the local economy by attracting larger events and providing more lodging options for visitors.
The Kennewick City Council announced it will attend the ceremony at 3:00 p.m. outside the center at 7016 Grandridge Blvd.
The council approved the convention center expansion plan on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The total expansion project is funded through a bond issued by the Kennewick Public Facilities District, with no additional taxes for residents.
It’s expected to draw nearly 200,000 attendees annually and increase room nights by 70,600.
This influx is projected to generate $130.8 million in spending, $26.4 million in earnings and $6.9 million in tax revenues, the center said.
