Kennewick woman dies after being hit by car on 27th Avenue

KENNEWICK, Wash. – An accident early Monday claimed the life of a 71-year-old Kennewick woman.

Police said in a release that Daphne Rothfork was hit by a vehicle while she was crossing the street on 27th Avenue near Tacoma Street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene despite immediate aid and CPR efforts from a passerby and a Kennewick Police Commander, police said.

The Kennewick Police Department (KPD) Traffic Unit, specializing in major collisions, responded to the scene.

According to KPD, the driver, a 59-year-old Kennewick woman, was not under the influence of narcotics or alcohol, and speed or negligence was not suspected.

There is no crosswalk at that location. Police remind residents to use crosswalks for safety when crossing streets.
