KENNEWICK, Wash. – Voters in the Kennewick School District (KSD) will decide the fate of two replacement levies on the February 10 ballot to support student needs and safety enhancements.
The Educational Programs & Operations Levy aims to fund daily operations such as student support, extracurricular activities and staffing. If approved, KSD said it will also bring in an additional $16.5 million per year through state Local Effort Assistance, totaling $66 million over four years.
The Safety, Security & Information Technology Levy focuses on safety upgrades, cybersecurity measures and instructional technology, including updated classroom devices and network improvements.
These levies are intended to replace expiring ones and help bridge the gap between state funding and actual district operating costs, KSD said.
For a full breakdown of both funding measures including the estimated tax per $1,000 of assessed property value, go to the KSD website.
