KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kennewick School District (KSD) has been chosen as one of only 10 districts in the state to join Microsoft Elevate Washington, a program aimed at preparing students and educators for an AI-driven future.
Through this initiative, KSD will receive a $75,000 grant to support artificial intelligence projects. Additionally, Microsoft will provide $25,000 in consulting to help the district use AI effectively and responsibly.
“This is an exciting partnership for the future of Kennewick,” said Tina Brewer, Director of Professional Learning and Development. “We believe every student deserves a world-class education, and the support from Microsoft allows us to level the playing field.”
KSD said its staff recently attended a meetup at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond where 150 educators from across the state collaborated on innovative ways to integrate AI into teaching.
Brewer emphasized the importance of preparing students for future challenges. “We want Kennewick students to have the skills and tools to be ready to lead in a workforce that hasn’t even been fully imagined yet,” she said.
