KENNEWICK, Wash. – The City of Kennewick, alongside the Benton-Franklin Council of Governments, has launched an Area-Wide Planning initiative to revitalize Downtown Kennewick and its surrounding neighborhoods.

The city said in a release that it’s focusing on properties within the Downtown core to attract redevelopment and investment. The project area is bounded by Fruitland Street, Canal Drive, Alder Street, and properties along 1st Avenue.

To ensure the revitalization reflects community values, residents are encouraged to participate in a 24-question survey. The survey will gather feedback on the community’s preferences and desires for the area’s future.

The project is funded by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant, which supports the assessment and cleanup of brownfield sites, city said.
