Kennewick mayor declares July as Parks and Recreation Month

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Mayor Gretel Crawford proclaimed July as Parks and Recreation Month during the city council’s July 1 meeting.

The proclamation, attended by Parks and Recreation Commissioner Ken Hahn, celebrated the significant impact parks and recreational programs have on local residents.

Mayor Crawford highlighted their role in promoting health, economic prosperity and environmental well-being.

Crawford noted that parks contribute to the local economy by boosting property values, expanding the tax base and drawing businesses and tourists.

She also stressed their ecological importance, saying, “Our parks ensure the ecological beauty of our community and offer spaces for all ages to connect with nature.”

Commissioner Hahn expressed gratitude for the city council’s support and the dedicated staff maintaining Kennewick’s parks.
