
KENNEWICK, Wash. – State legislative representatives for District #8 will participate in a city council workshop focused on Kennewick’s 2026 Legislative Agenda.
The December 9 session will include a roundtable discussion on upcoming legislative topics.
For those planning to attend the workshop at city hall, the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 9.
Legislative topics planned for discussion:
Toyota Center HVAC System – The City of Kennewick is seeking $300,000 to replace the system and implement safety improvements. Additionally, $90,000 in state funding is requested for asbestos abatement on the second floor of the Kennewick Activity Center.
Kennewick at-grade rail crossings – A $300,000 study is proposed to explore solutions like grade-separation to improve safety and reduce delays.
Columbia Center Boulevard – $14.7 million expansion is being sought to handle heavy traffic volumes. This project is ranked #3 on the Benton-Franklin Council of Government’s Top Six Regional Transportation Projects.
Kennewick Community Pool replacement – The city is exploring a partnership with the Kennewick School District and the state for this project, which could cost between $11-20 million.
Kennewick City Hall replacement – The city is drafting a request for proposal to select an architecture firm to analyze renovation costs and the process for building a new city hall, estimated at $35 million.
New Southridge fire station – With 3,500 homes, 1,800 apartment buildings, and more than 1 million square feet of commercial office space expected to be constructed over the next 20 years, the city will look into funding for a new station.
